So....I've been busy! And it was recently brought to my attention that I need to blog...ASAP. (Carmen Michael!!) Thank you, I needed a push!

This is Courtney and Jackie's handmade backyard wedding reception!
And it was gorgeous. Courtney is a coworker at our Huntsville office, I was super excited when she asked me to photograph their home wedding in October.
Courtney is so talented and creative I knew this would be the wedding of my career! And it was. I love so many images that there will be several blog posts dedicated to Courtney and Jackie! So grab a latte and get cozy.

I could have spent all day just swooning over the details, and I did!

Birmingham Senior Portraits- Kassidy Rae

I am on a posting frenzy this week! And you are going to love this post so get ready its a long one.

Let me introduce Kassidy Rae, my cousin. She is the seventh born grandchild! =) Christmas is crazy at our house, especially since there are about 6 more after her too.

I think Kassidy and I are kindred spirits and let me tell you why. Kassidy is everything I wish I had been in High School and at her age!!
Awesome #1, sassy, speaks her mind with no hesitation, strong, and comfortable in her own skin. And she twirls FIRE! (for real, she does...at Football games in front of our whole hometown) I love it.

And I think these images totally capture her personality. Isn't she beautiful! This was our first session of portraits to celebrate her senior year of High School, and we have plans for more!!

Birmingham Senior Portraits- John Bennett

This is a special post for two reasons!
The first is because its my first senior portraits of the year, which is always exciting, and two because John Bennett is an old friend!

I used to babysit John Bennett and his little sisters way back in middle school! Holy-cow, this makes me feel really old, being that he is graduating high school!!
And knowing at the same time that I probably wasn't really old enough to be babysitting anyone let-alone three at one time! What were our parents thinking?
Thank goodness there was always Papa John's Pizza delivery and GREAT cable TV, and usually Cathrine was already asleep! =)

John Bennett, what an amazing kid (adult) you turned out to be! I can't wait to see where you end up...and who all you will have your photo taken with!

Holly get ready, this is your baby! And you might cry when you see these.

So I have these friends, Jen & Adam, who are amazing! They are those friends that you might not see very often but when you do its like you were never apart.And I love them beyond words. We all met in college working in ministries and I'm not sure I have any college memories that one or both of them are not in. After graduation they got married and moved back in Jen's home state, GA and started having babies!!

And boy are their babies beautiful.

Jen called a few weeks ago and said they were coming in town for some family time and wanted to do a family photo session with me. Of course I was so excited to see them and love on those babies but even more excited to photograph them all for the first time ever!

Here is a little sneak peak from our early Sunday shoot last week!

What a Labor Day! For the "last day of summer", its been a pretty grim day here in the south. But with so much forced time inside today I have been working on this precious new boy's newborn session.

His sweet mom and I have been planning for several months for his debut, and when I got an email saying he came a week early and was ready for his close up I was more than thrilled to get to meet him!
He was a bit restless, and little bit not so happy with us for most of the shoot, but I love the results we got.

What a sweet new family this is!

Who's ready for a baby bump?
I know I can never get enough of a sweet round belly.

This beautiful momma is not only a friend but a coworker and fellow photographer. Needless to say I was thrilled when she asked me to do her maternity session! We spent the better part of two hours riding around taking pictures to capture that end of her pregnancy, Marcy is due at the end of the month, and we are all anxiously awaiting Violet's arrival. I am not usually a fan of bare belly maternity photos (and Marcy might kill me for posting these) but I just couldn't resist. These may be some of most favorite images ever. What a radiant mom!

I promised I was going to be posting several things this week, and here is the first! This was my first wedding of the season and it went off without a hitch and I got to visit my very own college town of Montevallo. Oh how I miss you!

The ceremony took place at St. Thomas in Montevallo, and then we made our way over to American Village for formal pictures and the reception!

I just couldn't get enough of all the sunflowers!

I always love ending the day with sweet, gorgeous sunset moments with the bride and groom! It doesn't get much better than that.

This year is turning out to be my busiest yet! I have had so many lovely new clients in last few weeks that I have hardly had time to breath, but that's an awesome problem to have these days
(lots of business that is...not having a hard time breathing!!!!!)

Do to the rain last night I had to cancel my sessions for the day, so I decided to take advantage of the free time and take some images for myself!

My mom has this really great wisteria tree in the back yard that is always gorgeous this time of year and after the rain this weekend the color was so vibrant I just couldn't help but spend some time shooting around it today.

Post #2 in one night...I'm doing pretty good so far!

Meet Gavin and his sweet parents.
He turned two recently so we ventured out to capture this adorable stage in his life. After a few minutes of warming up to me, Gavin and I became great friends! We mirrored each other, played with rocks, talked about dogs, ran up and down Morris Avenue, and sat on the ground (alot)!!

Gavin was a fantastic two year old session, if I ever had one.
And thanks to a few fruit snacks, among other bribes by mom, dad, and myself, I think we had much success!

Thanks so much guys, Gavin was awesome! I can't wait to see you all again soon.

Hello all of you faithful readers, who may or may not still be checking back for new posts! I know its been forever and a day, but the photography business is keeping me busy. Even too busy to blog! (I know that should be a sin).

His mom is coworker and friend of mine. We only had a short 30 minutes to work in Campbell's six month session and boy did it go well.
He smiled and giggled the whole 30 minutes, which makes my job cake!

This is my dear friend Michelle. I have been taking photos for Michelle for quiet some time, but I was especially excited when she called me about doing her maternity session this winter! We wanted to do something really different and fun so we decide to take out her hubby's boat for spin and do a little family/maternity session out on the water! It just so happened that we picked the perfect day so be out, the sun was warm and the sky was beautiful. This baby boy is due really soon, and they are keeping his name a major secret. I have been absent from blogging, but I have not been absent from blogging material! So...meet the Black family.

Kelly and I tried and tried for weeks to figure out a good date for the both of us for their session and once we finally found a date that worked we grabbed it! The main theme of the shoot was originally for Madalyn's birthday pictures, but we soon began the quest for "one", yes at least one great family photo! So Kelly you may totally hate me for this first photograph but it was too funny not to post. The faces explain it all!!

Where have I been you ask?? Busy, I reply!
Sorry for the non-existent blog posts and images but these last few months have just been blissfully slammed with new clients, new babies, old clients, and old friends.

And speaking of old friends...I have a doozie of a photo shoot to share. And the old friends I was talking about, well they were the subject. When Carmen called and started talking about a trade I was so excited. You see, she is a photographer too...an awesome photographer. So I was not only super excited about shooting her, the hubs, and their child-dog Heidi but Cory and I get our very photo shoot with her as well, which I think is the best part! Carmen and I met years ago at our first job out of college...and as embarrassing as it may be I will admit that it was Portrait Innovations! We all have to start somewhere, you know. Carmen and I were instant friends and kid about being the same the person. There are too many similarities to mention but trust me we are soul-mates!

Carmen, thank you so much for asking me to photograph your family! It means the world to me. I hope you love these are much as I loved spending the afternoon with you and Kent!

This sweet girl is family, well sort of. This is Isabella, Ella's cousin.
Their Nana (Tammy) emailed me months ago about doing a session with all three girls outside at my parents house. So we started planning, and Nana bought lots of new clothes, shoes, and hair bows but every time we set a date it would rain...or someone was sick...or there was a very important game on...something always came up!
But alas we finally picked a day that was perfect and got all of these sweet girls together for one hot, and mean literally hot like temperature wise, photo session. Isabella was the star of this shoot, however; so I'm going to post a few of her all by herself for you to drool over for few days and then I'll post more from the whole day.

This little-bitty girl was quite the crier, that is until after about an hour of myself and her mother trying to make her happy, her daddy came in swept her up in his arms...and she stopped. And I mean, stopped immediately and never made another sound. Most of the images we got were from the last thirty minutes after her sweet daddy held her! What a beautiful site.
Marley James is just beautiful and I had a wonderful afternoon in her pale green nursery, surrounded by sweet pink accents and a sparkling crystal chandelier overhead. What a perfect place for this little beauty to lay her head.

I hope you will enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them.

I must tell you that I was so excited when Lisa contacted me about doing a maternity series for the last four months of her pregnancy. And then after meeting Lisa for our first session, we realized we had been grade school classmates! Small world isn't it.
I love, love, love maternity sessions and I couldn't wait to get started on these and share them with the world. Lisa was a fabulous sport in the scorching September heat late last Friday afternoon and she was a breeze to photograph.
Five month pregnant ladies are a bit slower and don't tend to run from me like the usual youngsters I have to chase around, so it was definitely a nice change of pace!
I am so looking forward to our next meeting, thank you Lisa for the honor of documenting your first baby bump.

September 11! Today is a day I know that we all remember and it reminds us to cherish not only our freedoms but our loved ones. But this is not a post about that 9.11. , its a post about celebrating different 9.11. The one when our sweet Ella (my niece) was born!
That's right...she was born on 9.11 and today she is 4. Wow, this is such a crazy thing because I feel like it was just 5 minutes ago that I met and held her for the very first time.
If you don't know her, you are surely missing out. She is the most wonderful, smart, beautiful, little curly headed stinker that you will ever know! And I love her with every part of my soul.
Nana, Ella's grandmother and I had been planning a photo shoot with Ella, Sophie, and Isabella for some time, and today just happened to be the day we had planned. After our session we had a little time to play so Ella and I had our own shoot!
And what's better than handmade pinwheels, cupcakes, and the summer sun?
Pretty much only this sweet smile!

Ok friends, this post is a little different from most (no rhyming was intended here, but it works). But since this is a photography blog there will of course be photos! So don't panic.

I love my job, and for those of you who don't know what I do...I am a photographer. (I know your thinking...Right?!) but I am actually a professional photographer for a major publishing company in the ham.

So at my job I have some of the most lovely and talented friends. All girls..how fun is that. And we have get-to-togethers all the time.
Last week one such friend, Malinda; was celebrating her...take a deep breath...26th bday...ahhh, wow that's hard to swallow I know! So we had a fiesta themed party for her. And it was awesome. Chantel (our very on chef) did all the food and drinks herself and oh my it was good. Jordan and Jessica did the decorations and were the hostesses!And I of course did the photography! What's a party with no pictures. Look how freaking adorable it all was...

Michelle was the first response to my post about beach sessions during our vacation in June. I think she called somewhere between 3 and 5 minutes after I pressed post! She was so excited about having Madeline's pictures done on the beach that she and her mother-in-law took a two day trip down to Gulf Shores just for the session. Madeline has been one of my return customers from the time she was 1 and I have loved every minute of our time together!

Oh, I just love new babies! Newborn sessions are some of my most favorite things to do. And this one was no exception. This is the second time I have worked with this sweet family. Last time we met it was to celebrate James, and this time it was to celebrate his new baby brother Luke!
But James was never far from camera.

A quarter of a century...

..yep, that's how old I am! 25 yesterday. I'm a lucky girl to have accomplished most of my dreams before 25 ( there are still a few I'm working on)...I'd say that's pretty good. And yet there's no better way to celebrate both birthdays and accomplishments than at home with my family.
And that's just what we did.

My mom always cooks "Family Night Dinner" for birthdays and we (the guest of honor) get to pick the menu! I'm pretty easy and just let her plan the meal for it to be a surprise, and WOW what a meal. She even set this pretty table outside on the front porch!

After dinner and dessert (which is my favorite...lemon ice-box pies) we all headed out to pool for the rest of evening. We had a great time learning to swim with Ella, watching Soph get in for the first time, playing "keep it up" volleyball, and enjoying the long summer day.

But the best part of birthdays at our house is that they last all week long so when I got home last night I had this sweet little set up from my hubby!

Isn't he cute! He always sets my gifts up so they are the first thing I see when I walk in the door. The envelope was a gift card for a manicure and pedicure!!
Ahhh, I can't wait to use it.
We went to dinner just us to our favorite little local place. After dinner we ran home and changed to play tennis at the park, and had the best time.

I love you C, thanks for my making my b'day so special!

Have you ever met a couple for the first time and you knew right off you liked them?
Well meet the Rowe's. That was my experience with Amy and Clint!

We met for the first time when they came to Vincent for their engagement session in March and they were so much. Amy gave me some insight on the details of her wedding and I just knew it would fabulous. And it was!
Their wedding was June 5 in Opelika at the Bowery Reserve and it was beautiful.
I couldn't wait to start editing them and get them posted.

I just couldn't resist! Patience is not one of my strong qualities.

Only a week into editing our most recent wedding and here I am posting not just a few images...but lots of images. I have known Val, well forever really, so when she called me about shooting her wedding I was without a doubt ecstatic!
May 22 was the date and American Village in Montevallo, Alabama was the gorgeous location.
Ro, Val's groom was about the sweetest thing I have ever seen and he is without a doubt head over heels, ridiculously, and beautifully in love with his precious bride. And you can see it all over his face!

Their wedding was so much fun to shoot and I can tell its going to be just as fun to edit!

A Family

...this family is special. Mari (the mother) is my claim to fame..so to speak. She was my elementary school art teacher and the inspiration for my passion and life. Wow. Pretty special I'd say.

Mari is a fabulous art teacher, artist, and most obviously mother. I remember waiting and waiting for that one day a week that we got to go art class at VES, oh I longed for that day every week. One of the very first things I remember her teaching us was how to draw a face, and that the eyes actually go closer to the very center of the face rather than the top! And then a few afternoons a week she taught an after school art class which my sister and I both never missed. Mom would take me to the thrift store for old National Geographic magazines and I would flip through the pages over and over again looking for just the right photograph to recreate as a painting.

I loved art from the very begin of my childhood and Mari was part of that. And now its my life. So when Mari emailed me about a photo-shoot with her family, I was thrilled. I so loved the natural setting and complete creative freedom she gave me. These few images are my favorites so far!

Thank you Mari, for your inspiration to my life and for the opportunity to see your beautiful family through my lenses.

My sister

I decide since I'm on a sister kick this week and since I have been editing like a mad person, I would dedicate another post to my dear sweet sister.
However, this one is more about her and less about the girls!! Sorry I hope you all aren't too disappointed...she's really fun just like them too. =)

I love my sister dearly and pretty much do whatever she asks (most of the time!) but this little photo shoot was actually my idea! I was headed over to do "something" the afternoon before Sophie's arrival, and the light was too perfect to past up. Not to mention that we realized, we had spent so much time on baby bump sessions that we never actually had a "real" maternity session!
So I grabbed my camera, which is always at arms length and we had fun little afternoon in the sun.

I love, love, love the way they turned out. These could be my favorite images yet! I hope you enjoy them.

Newborns

These are not my children, however I would claim them and love them as if they were.
They are my nieces, my sisters babies.

We were so super excited to hear the good news that Kristin was pregnant for the second time last September. And for me, it meant lots of opportunity to play with newborn photo ideas. When Ella was born I was still in school, had no equipment, and was still shooting film so needless to say her newborn photos are less then stellar.

But with Sophie we were prepared and ready. Between Kristin and I both the ideas just kept coming. And so here we are a month into Sophie's life and we have had at least three full sessions already.

Due to some medical issues I have been out of commission for a few weeks but feeling better this weekend lead to major editing. Since Kris never has to pay (a perk for having a photographer sister) she does however always have to wait on her images. I usually edit the paying customers first which I am sure you are all thankful for this.

But I got so caught up this weekend that I had time to edit sweet Sophie's newborn sessions and much to your joy here are a few to drool over!

Ok, don't get over excited, I know you are all waiting patiently for more images of my newest niece... but these are not Sophie's newborn photos.

This is a sweet tiny boy named Lake. His mommy is my sister's best friend from all the way back in grade school! Lake was born just four short weeks ago. My sister and I went out last weekend, Ella in tow, to do Lake's newborn session. Ella was super curious about Lake, and his big brother Grey gave her lots of tips on being the big sibling!

Week 39 Outtakes

We (my sister and I) did our next to last baby-bump session last Tuesday night, the night before Sophie's big arrival and Kristin was having a few painful contractions but we made it through. However, I did manage to catch a few of the funny faces!

Hello world, meet Sophie Kae Fields!!

Isn't she just the most beautiful thing you have ever seen, well besides her big sister of course and since they look just alike that's ok to say out loud.

She was born at 7:2??, at 6lbs 14oz and 20 inches long. We are so so so excited to welcome her to this world and our family today! We have loved and kissed on her all day long and now home we miss her sweet face like crazy.
And my mother just asked, "what have you been doing all afternoon"...she wanted to read a post and see photos!!

5 o'clock tomorrow can't come quick enough, it will be hard to wait that long for
more Sophie time!
